About our ERC
A Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) is one designed at the outset for rapid change to quickly adjust its production capacity and functionality in response to sudden market changes and customer demand.
The Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (ERC/RMS) is bringing the RMS science to the factory floor with new methodologies and equipment to begin production faster and with higher reliability. Our technologies give manufacturers exactly the production capabilities needed, exactly when needed to compete in the global marketplace.
The ERC/RMS is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and approximately thirty industrial companies. Involved in the ERC/RMS are approximately 15 faculty, 10 staff and 40 students. In addition to research in RMS, the Center also engages in educational and outreach activities. Further details on all aspects of the ERC/RMS can be found through links on these web pages.
