Abstract: Over the past few years wireless networking has
rapidly moved to the forefront in manufacturing as a next-generation
solution for networked diagnostics, control and safety. The
practical implementation of wireless, however, brings with it many
issues, such as performance, reliability, and security, that must be
addressed before the return on investment in moving to wireless can
be realized. This workshop will explore the challenges and
opportunities of moving to wireless on the factory floor through
presentations from wireless practitioners and researchers, followed
by a panel discussion to distill out the most important issues that
should be addressed in order to accelerate the adoption of wireless
technologies.
